BBA Gallery Berlin is pleased to announce the exhibition ‘IMAGEMAKER’ by the renowned Japanese artist Katsutoshi Yuasa as part of Gallery Weekend Berlin 2025. This is not only his first solo exhibition in Berlin, but also in all of Germany.

Katsutoshi Yuasa, Portrait
Born in Tokyo in 1978, Yuasa combines the traditional technique of woodblock printing with digital photography to create works of extraordinary depth. His art reflects on impermanence and everyday beauty.
Yuasa describes his creative process as follows: ‘Our perception is shaped by experience and environment. The printing plate thus becomes a representation of the past adapted to the present.’
Through a meticulous and week-long creative process, he manages to capture the essence of his motifs in a unique way. His monochrome works, inspired by nature and urban landscapes, captivate viewers and invite them to reflect on the interplay between photography and printmaking.

About Katsutoshi Yuasa
Katsutoshi Yuasa (1978, Japan) is an internationally recognised printmaker. He completed his master's degree at the Royal College of Art in London and has exhibited worldwide, including at the Lawrence Art Center (Kansas) and the YUKI-SIS gallery (Tokyo). His works are part of renowned collections such as the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art Leipzig. He currently lives and works in Kanagawa Prefecture and teaches at Tama Art University.
