Paintings by H.-H. GRIMMLING with sculptures by R. FESCHAREK
In this work show, Michael W. Schmalfuß presents paintings by the internationally renowned painter HANS-HENDRIK GRIMMLING and sculptures by the self-taught artist REINHARD FESCHAREK.
GRIMMLING and FESCHAREK have a deep friendship, and GRIMMLING and Schmalfuß have worked together for many years. And so the gallery owner is happy to fulfil the established artist's heartfelt wish to exhibit his works together with objects by an as yet unknown sculptor.
‘One seeks, the other finds.‘ HANS-HENDRIK GRIMMLING is still searching for THE form that explicitly expresses what he wants to communicate. In doing so, he has developed his own typical, concise painterly style and symbolism. GRIMMLING's works assert themselves within public and private collections with an almost sacred aura.
REINHARD FESCHAREK's sculptures, on the other hand, are down-to-earth and earthy. Created from found materials, their intrinsic history of development and form is worked out by the sculptor full of empathy,’ explains Michael W. Schmalfuß.
With HANS-HENDRIK GRIMMLING and REINHARD FESCHAREK, the exhibition KONTRAGENZ - von beiden Seiten brings together two artists who not only have very different biographies, but are also far apart in their conceptions of material, form and image. However, both explore their respective ‘becoming identical’ with their own passion, the self-chosen ‘entanglement’ in their own material, as a bridge to the world and to themselves in a very similar way.
GRIMMLING, who moved to Berlin in 1986, looks back on formative years of study and work as well as exhibition closures in the GDR. Since then he has lived here in West Berlin as a freelance artist.
He has been passing on his knowledge to future generations since 2001, for example from 2007-17 as a Professor at the btk-fh, Berlin.
FESCHAREK has been explicitly dedicated to sculpture since 2019. The trained physician has worked worldwide as a doctor and a specialist in drug safety. Today he is living his dream of being a creative
people.
GRIMMLING and FESCHAREK are kindred spirits. They inspire each other through the each other through the differences in their thinking and artistic work.
GRIMMLING and FESCHAREK are grateful for this exhibition opportunity and hope that as many visitors as possible will recognise the - in their opinion - unique tension between their works.
- The vernissage will take place on 29 March 2025 from 16:00 to 20:00.
- The artists have confirmed their participation.
- The exhibition will be on display until 26 April 2025.
