Three dimensionality with depth
With his unmistakable love of materiality and an aesthetic deeply rooted in the world of architecture, German artist Johannes Ehemann (*1996) presents his new solo exhibition ‘Irreversible’.
From 28 February 2025, Galerie BETTER GO SOUTH Berlin invites you to discover the latest works by this up-and-coming talent.
Ehemann's works are a dialogue between structure and emotion, a play of sharp edges, sculptural surfaces and textural depth. Using techniques inspired by architectural principles and a love of experimentation that challenges traditional painting, he creates works that celebrate both the transience and beauty of the irretrievable.
The exhibition title ‘Irreversible’ serves as a leitmotif. ‘Every surface tells a story - and just as architecture is shaped by space, time and use, our decisions shape the texture of our lives. What was once will never be the same again,’ explains Ehemann. The new works show a further development of his sculptural painting:
abstract folds, intense worlds of colour and tangible structures draw viewers into a space between art and architecture.
space between art and architecture. His works are a meditation on change - they remind us that every transformation is both inevitable and full of potential.
Ehemann's artistic work has already led him to renowned group exhibitions in Europe. His growing international success is closely linked to his unique material aesthetic, which fits perfectly with the visionary architecture of Berlin - a city that continues to symbolise change and innovation.
