Film series AugenBlicke in the castle
In THE GIRL KING, Finnish director Mika Kaurismäki fictionalizes the autobiography of Sweden's Queen Kristina, daughter of Gustav Wasa.
Having become regent as a young girl following the death of her father, Kristina proves to be a rebel and, in her adolescence, flounders between gender roles and first loves through the intrigues at court. In the absence of a male heir to the throne, she is brought up as a boy and only sheds this role model as a female lover, which leads to conflicts in her environment.
Kristina later converted to Catholicism, rode (!) to Rome and was able to lead a life as a patron of the arts there. On January 8, 1671, she opened the Teatro Tor di nona, the city's first public theater, where women also acted or sang, unlike was customary at the time.
