On 16 November 2024, the 8th FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT Festival will take place at CABUWAZI Tempelhof.

This year, the festival will be organised for the first time as part of ‘Zeit für Zirkus’, a Germany-wide festival for contemporary circus, organised for the first time. Visitors can look forward to two in-house circus productions, open stage and live music.

Since 2017, the FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT Festival has featured artists on stage who deal with the topics of freedom of movement, flight and arrival - topics that are present every day due to the current social situation on the former airport site, now Tempelhofer Feld and CABUWAZI location: The airport site is a temporary home for around 5,000 refugees; a second Tempohome is being planned; CABUWAZI has become an artistic home for more and more newly arrived artists.

The perspectives of these artists are brought to the stage in two in-house productions. The young ensemble, consisting of 20 teenagers and young adults, ‘International Arrivals’ and the ensemble ‘VisÁ-Vis’ (15 artists) negotiate their own life stories in the shows and find artistic answers to the question of what travelling, saying goodbye, arriving and starting anew does to one's own identity.

Both ensembles have developed the choreography in several workshops with Raphael Moussa Hillebrand. Tadios Cherenet is the artistic director and Daphne Brunet is responsible for the dramaturgy of the ‘VisÁ-Vis’ show.
