Fantasia Malware

Presenting video games in unique performative settings is the hallmark of the Berlin collective Fantasia Malware, who are returning to HAU after a sold-out event in May.

"The Abyssal Diplomat" is a performance that combines a video game played in real time by Gabriel Helfenstein (Fantasia Malware) and live puppetry by the French filmmaker and puppeteer Emily Barbelin.

Music and sound effects will be performed on stage by the Latvian rock band Les Attitudes Spectrales.

A minor disagreement between the People of the Surface and the Monsters from the Underlands threatens to tear apart their sense of shared reality. A mysterious creature from the realms in-between is called upon to bring the two communities together. The Abyssal Diplomat will do its best.

But will its best be enough?
