The Dutch artist Rineke Dijkstra has created an impressive body of photographic and video works since the early 1990s. In them, she reinterprets the genre of the portrait.
For her photographs, she removes people from their everyday surroundings and searches for nuances of individuality by focusing on subtle details, the posture or the gaze of those portrayed. The aim is to encourage viewers to take a closer look at people who are undergoing change in one way or another.
With PD Dr. Elisabeth Fritz (German Forum for Art History, Paris) and Sophie Angelov (Curatorial Assistant)
