Stories and objects
For the first time, Domäne Dahlem is presenting an exhibition that, after more than forty years of museum history, is entirely dedicated to its own collection: SAMMLUNG DOMÄNE DAHLEM. Stories and Objects showcases the wide range of topics related to agriculture and food culture as reflected in the mirror of time.
The Domäne Dahlem collection raises numerous questions:
How were agricultural soils cultivated in the past? What happened on the domain's fields over the course of time? What does sustainable consumption mean? How has the subject of agriculture changed in art?
In COLLECTION DOMÄNE DAHLEM. Stories and Objects, visitors can see etchings by Käthe Kollwitz and Lesser Ury, as well as a reed cutting sled, an original cargo bike from the former premium milk farm, toys and shopping bags.
The exhibition links the objects to contemporary ecological issues and tells the story of the open-air museum's own collection.
