Vine juice for Ruprecht

This year, the association Family and Friends e. V. is venturing into a new market format. After the great success of their wine and vintners' markets in the summer, it was only a matter of time before they merged wine with Christmas.

Now, on 14 and 15 December 2024, the time has come at Ludwig-Beck-Platz: the first WEINachtsmarkt starts at 12 noon. In addition to the popular Christmas entertainment, arts and crafts and culinary delights, selected family-run wine producers from Germany will be presenting their wines and will be happy to provide helpful tips on the perfect wine for the Christmas menu.

A total of 50 exhibitors at the WEINachtsmarkt on Ludwig-Beck-Platz on the 3rd weekend of Advent 2024 will ensure pre-Christmas and atmospheric encounters in the neighbourhood - thanks to Family & Friends, who came up with and implemented this great idea.

Hot and cold wine fun
So if you're not such a big fan of sweetened, hot wine drinks during Advent, you can look forward to an excellent selection of wines and very good advice. The winegrowers give good tips on which wine goes perfectly with a Christmas roast, should accompany the cheese platter or which wine is suitable as a digestif or aperitif.

The Holdenried winery from Partenheim in Rheinhessen has been family-owned since it was founded in 1774. Jörg and Felix Holdenried - father and son - specialise in the vinification of vegan wines and have the right wine for every occasion with 15 varieties - here they present wine, sparkling wine, spirits, wine jelly, wine vinegar and grape juice - not just for cool, cosy winter nights. https://weingut-holdenried.de/
he vineyards of the Koch winemaking family are located in Franconia, between Würzburg and Karlstadt. Their range includes fine fruity wines with finesse, mature wines with style and elegance as well as Franconian gems. Above all, however, the winegrowing family loves personal contact and is therefore happy to be present at vinophile events such as the WEINachtsmarkt with its award-winning Franconian wines, grape juice, sparkling wine, wine cocktails and distillates.

With a great deal of passion and enthusiasm for wine and Rheinhessen, Christian Kupper now wants to make wines in the 4th generation that appeal to young and old and bear his very own signature. He is starting the new chapter with 8 grape varieties typical of Rheinhessen - at Christmas in particular with the red, white and pink Glühflöckchen. Winery Christian Kupper |

Handicrafts and design for the festive season
The stalls at the WEINachtsmarkt have wonderful handicrafts and design objects in store for people who are looking for particularly personalised gifts.

Letters in various sizes, animal and Christmas motifs, wooden puzzles or even logos for birthdays and weddings made from 18 mm thick, untreated spruce wood are available from wood craftsman Jürgen Tschötschel. It all started with a scroll saw in 2013. http://holz-buchstaben.de/

Flaschenjunge Stefan has dedicated himself to recycling and upcycling old bottles and glass remnants and uses them to create transparent works of art called Flaschenjunge (hanging), Standjunge (standing) and Schatzjunge (refined with other materials such as wood). His hanging chandeliers, tea light holders and lanterns are guaranteed to be handmade, individual, sustainable and unique. https://www.flaschenjunge.de/

At the Decorative Art stand by Helena Hamann - who is actually a photographer - there will be beautifully shiny stars made by her from metallic paper in all colours for the first time. https://www.helena-hamann.de/

La Torchonnerie from Berlin produces - as the French name suggests - hand-printed and self-designed linen tea towels, as well as napkins and bags, in colourful designs.  Great textile design for the kitchen! Screen printing - Friederike Berat

Fortschritt-Berlin offers high-quality knitwear made from merino and silk-merino. Real neck cosies and decorative, warming accessories with geometric-graphic patterns for cold winter days that always fit.

In the thick of it instead of just being there: Christmas jazz & jingles
Musical entertainment comes from the popular and well-known Jazz-Nikoläusen: the three musicians play Christmas carols, swing and Dixieland in Father Christmas outfits with trumpet, vocals, banjo and sousaphone - and this time they will be playing a musical interplay with the Jazzpolizei: this troupe is an ingenious mixture of marching band and improv theatre and will entertain you with New Orleans music and improv shows with megaphone solos.

Gourmet crafts and treats
The aroma of roasted almonds and chestnuts hangs in the air, making it hard to decide what to try first. We recommend a selection:

You can immerse yourself in the Middle Ages with bread, cake and coffee at the Kunterbunt bakery. As the name suggests, the ‘handmade bread’ comes fresh from the oven - here you can see how it was baked back then.

Because honey is a must in the Christmas bakery, you should also make a detour to the Beefriends travelling apiary. Here you can buy totally local honey from Berlin-Lichtenrade. Beekeeper Olaf Schwerdtfeger guarantees that the honey is 100% natural and is harvested exclusively by hand, without adding or taking anything away.

If you have a soft spot for old, stylish cars, Sylvia Grasso-Bauschlicher's crêpe stand is the place for you: she serves her sweet and savoury crêpe creations from a vintage French car.
