Discover the Carnival of Cultures

Launched in 1996, the Carnival of Cultures was created in response to growing cultural tensions in Germany, aiming to promote tolerance and an open, intercultural society. Over the years, it has evolved into one of the largest and most vibrant street festivals in Europe celebrating diversity and inclusivity.

The carnival showcases Berlin's international spirit, offering performers from diverse cultural backgrounds the chance to express themselves creatively. For festival-goers, it's an opportunity to explore the world through music, dance and art.

In light of its history, the Carnival of Cultures is also a space where political and social topics take centre stage. Performers often use their platform to address issues like climate change, immigration and social justice.
