Berlioz is the latest project from producer Ted Jasper. The Englishman, who grew up in southwest England, recorded his first tracks here before moving to London. It was there that he developed his distinctive sound.
His musical influences lie in the areas of soul and jazz, somewhere between Miles Davis and Erykah Badu. He creates fine beats and combines everything to create a poppy and extremely relaxed electronic sound.
With Berlioz, he now goes a step further and combines his downtempo deep house with the British jazz scene.
Growing up on the British coast, he discovered his passion for the saxophone at the age of five and fell more and more in love with jazz. For several years now, the musician has succeeded in translating this genre, which is often perceived as difficult to access, into a contemporary sound and showing how enriching and suitable for everyday use jazz can be.
Similar to a sophisticated development of the lo-fi house that became popular due to the corona pandemic, Berlioz combines easy listening with elements of jazz and classical music. With his first releases, which he gradually presented about two years ago, he already merges jazz and house into a lively mixture that creates a thrilling, groovy experience, especially live.
His music is like a colorful palette, inspired by the flowing and lively forms of a Matisse painting - a style that is also reflected in his colorful and expressive artwork. With this unique approach, Jasper Attlee, Berlioz's real name, has achieved over 100 million streams in the last twelve months. A decisive contribution to this was his debut album open this wall, released in July, on which he clearly defines his own musical path. In March next year, Berlioz will bring his hypnotic sound world live to Germany and will be performing at four concerts here.
In 2025, Jasper will go on a European tour and promises a unique, casual and danceable musical experience. Berlioz will also be appearing in Berlin.
