The Berlin Orchestra Meeting, the city's largest amateur music festival, is a major event in Berlin's cultural life. Every four years, the ensembles come together to share their joy of making music, their skills and their passion with a large audience.

30 short concerts

The audience has the unique opportunity to experience a variety of different musical ensembles in short taster concerts on a total of four stages. Large and small symphony orchestras, plucked and guitar orchestras, accordion orchestras, big bands, wind orchestras, trombone choirs, a fanfare band, a drum line and even a 100-person cello orchestra will be present!

Open rehearsal

Berlin amateur musicians are cordially invited to take part in the open rehearsal on Saturday evening. It will be led by Iván Fischer, honorary conductor of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin and one of the most innovative artistic personalities of our time. A classical work is arranged exclusively for the orchestra meeting so that musicians with different plucked instruments, accordions and other instruments not originally used can also play along.

Free public workshops

A number of courses are being offered again this year. These include "Breathing work when playing an instrument", "Music and dementia", "Afro-Cuban percussion, musical speed dating", "Ensemble direction for beginners", "Funding opportunities for amateur music" and many more.

Foyer meeting place

During the orchestra meeting, the State Music Academy is open all day. The cafeteria offers a wide range of food and drinks. The central meeting place is the spacious foyer. It is easy to get into conversation at the information stands of the members of the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband and the Landesmusikrat Berlin e.V. as well as other cooperation partners.

Children's program

The children's program gives you the opportunity to plan a visit to the orchestra meeting as an enjoyable family outing. These include activities such as "Building your own musical instruments", "Participatory construction site", "Musical hat salon" and much more.

The 2024 Orchestra Meeting will end on Saturday, October 12th, with a large closing concert in the concert hall of the UdK Berlin, which will probably be broadcast live on rbbKultur.

The patronage for the Orchestra Meeting will be taken over by the Berlin State Secretary for Culture, Sarah Wedl-Wilson.
