Res Sigusch reads from his debut novel “Essential Needs”
Art professor Benjamin Leiser has it all—money, status, connections—and yet isn't satisfied. When he meets student Konstantin, he chooses him as the son he never had but always wanted, and remembers the year 1989, when his dreams still seemed achievable: becoming a painter, being a father, finding happiness. Thirty years later, he tries to fulfill these "essential needs" creatively.
Res Sigusch initially studied general and comparative literature and philosophy, then literary writing and editing.
