ANOTHER GERMAN TANK STORY

Meike Droste (‘Mord mit Aussicht’), Johannes Scheidweiler (‘Tatort Ludwigshafen’) and Gisa Flake (‘Heute Show’, ‘Kannawoniwasein!’), among others, act with great enthusiasm in this black comedy, which is humorously and pointedly dedicated to the bizarre everyday life in a village.

About the film

The village of Wiesenwalde is turned upside down when an American crew comes to film a series about the Second World War. Mayor Susanne (Meike Droste) in particular senses an opportunity to put her home on the tourist map and defy demographic change. Her son Tobi (Johannes Scheidweiler) is hired as a driver for the crew - nobody knows at first that he has actually failed his driving test. Then, after years of absence, Bert (Roland Bonjour), a would-be journalist and the mayor's ex-boyfriend, turns up. Bert believes he can profit from the American guests. At the same time, the village elder Rosi is secretly planning the burial of old ideals - and her own as well. While her young neighbour Wolffi naively dreams of being discovered by Hollywood as an actor. When the power suddenly fails, the ambitious mammoth project in Wiesenwalde threatens to get out of hand.


The film has just been awarded the rating ‘Especially Valuable’ and recently won the prize for ‘Best Feature Film’ in the humour/satire category at the film festival in Bremen. Previously, it received the ‘Grand Jury Prize’ at the Turkey/Germany Film Festival in Nuremberg in March. Filmperlen will release the film in cinemas nationwide on 10 April.
