Cult Anime

From 15 July, the BABYLON will be showing one of the cult anime per excellence!

‘In 1995, Mamoru Oshii directed his most famous and influential film to date: the science fiction cyberpunk animation ‘Ghost in the Shell’’

The cult anime - The dark vision of the future from Production I.G is regarded alongside Akira as the most important trailblazer for the international breakthrough of the anime genre and a classic.

A work that fans of intelligent sci-fi films such as I, Robot, Matrix or A.I. cannot ignore.

The year is 2029 and almost all humans have had their bodies modified by artificial implants in order to improve certain abilities and acquire new ones. Even the brain can be replaced by a cyberbrain that can be fed with digital data.

Packaged in a biocapsule, the shell, each cyborg contains human brain cells with the ghost, which contains the identity and personality.

All the more threatening is the appearance of an unknown hacker, known as the Puppet Master, who is able to overcome the shells‘ security barriers and thus feed the cyborgs’ brains with false information.

His victims lose their will and commit crimes for him and his clients, becoming his puppets.

To prevent this, Section 9, a special unit of the Japanese Ministry of the Interior, is sent after the Puppet Master: Major Motoko Kusanagi, who gives her artificial body superhuman powers and at her side Batou.
