Three graphic narratives

The exhibition uses three graphic novels to present perspectives on anti-colonial remembrance and resistance.

lived, Luchadoras and
Resistance - Three generations of anti-colonial protest in Cameroon

Who owns life stories and who is allowed to tell them and how? This question is the common thread running through the graphic novels brought together in this exhibition: gelebt by Patricia Vester, Luchadoras - Kämpferinnen by Paola Reyes and Steffi Wassermann and Widerstand - Drei Generationen antikolonialer Protest in Kamerun by the Perspektivwechsel association. Against the Grain illuminates the perspectives of anti-colonial remembrance and resistance shown in the graphic narratives and resistance.

lived shows how the forcibly abducted Bilillee Ajamé Machbuba was forced into an abusive relationship by the Prussian Prince Pückler, which is still romanticized today. The mural action found extends the mural of disappeared people in the courtyard of Haus Schwarzenberg with portraits of children abducted in colonial times.

Luchadoras dedicates the exhibition to an activist from Honduras whose life is characterized by the struggle for the rights of the Afro-indigenous Garífuna.

Resistance - Three Generations of Anti-Colonial Protest in Cameroon reveals stories of resistance that were thought to have been lost and pays tribute to the resistance in Cameroon that has been ongoing since the 19th century. The exhibition program includes activities on the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearance and a program on Open Monument Day.
