The Museum of Silence opens the GULAG memorial room
In the midst of the vibrant metropolis, the Museum der Stille celebrates a special anniversary on 1 November 2024.
30 years of contemplation, art and timelessness.
To mark the occasion, the Sergei Mawrizki Foundation GULAG Memorial Room, an installation by the Russian-German artist Nikolai Makarov, will be opened.
The room commemorates the millions of victims of the Stalinist forced labour camps and invites quiet reflection.
The memorial room, completely lined with peat, combines past and present in an impressive dialogue. Especially at a time when topics such as freedom and justice are particularly relevant, the room offers the opportunity to pause for a moment and devote oneself to central values.
