Brandenburg Museum

A museum for the future, present and history

The Brandenburg Museum for Future, Present and History provides you with a comprehensive overview of ten centuries of regional history in its permanent exhibition.

1000 years of Brandenburg - embark on a journey into the past

The Brandenburg Museum for Future, Present and History takes you through more than ten centuries of the state's history in its permanent exhibition:

The exhibition, which was launched in 2022, illustrates history through the lives of historical figures from Brandenburg and the traces they left behind: we are talking about more than 200 historical objects from life in Brandenburg. "Living Portraits" present personalities from the history of Brandenburg in a true-to-life way. Accompanying large-format themed maps give you a vivid overview of the spectrum of life at that time. In addition, AR and VR technology, video films and sound recordings ensure that the content is conveyed in an easy-to-understand, emphatic way. One-hour guided tours through the exhibition provide even deeper insights - a tour through the cultural history of Brandenburg.

Space for encounters and dialogue with people and their history

The Brandenburg exhibition deliberately and comprehensively addresses the history of the people of Brandenburg, focusing on their experiences and their self-image. Brandenburgers and guests are deliberately given space, time for exchange, discussion and participation, because history only comes alive and becomes interesting from the questions of the present.

Cultural sights nearby

A short walk from Neuer Markt to Alter Markt will take you to the magnificent Potsdam Museum. The former town hall is dedicated to the history of this place with 500 objects and eleven special themed areas. The permanent exhibition "Potsdam. A city makes history" illustrates the everyday and cultural history of the Prussian royal seat in a listed setting. Follow in the footsteps of Frederick the Great at Sanssouci Palace. The name Sanssouci - without a care in the world - was the Prussian king's leitmotif. The stylish, elegant rococo-style summer residence from the 18th century has been preserved in its original state. Here you can also enjoy the view across the famous vineyard terraces to the popular palace park.
