I can't decide, which of the four seasons is my favourite. I live in Berlin and this city always has something to offer. And even though I'm not a fan of cold weather, I love December in the German capital, because millions of Christmassy lights turn the city into a magical place.
Alexanderplatz
Alexanderplatz turns into a hot spot of Christmas time during the winter season - there are two Christmas markets around the TV Tower, including an ice skating rink, a festive fair playground and traditional mulled wine stands. The first one of the two markets surrounding the TV Tower is based in the center of Alexanderplatz. It’s home to a huge Christmas pyramid, standing inside the middle of Germany's biggest square.

Rotes Rathaus (City Hall): Berlin Christmas Time
In the direct vicinity of Berlin’s TV Tower and City Hall, you will find the second Christmas Market next to the famous TV tower. When you're here, don’t miss the colourfully illuminated ice rink next to Neptunbrunnen or your ride on Berlin's most beautiful ferris wheel, offering an amazing panoramic view over the city.
Fernsehturm (TV Tower)
Berlin's Instagramers are very much used to the hashtag #thattoweragain since there’s no other building in Berlin as memorable and outstanding as the famous TV Tower. No wonder the famous tower appears on so many Christmassy pictures in Berlin.
Kurfürstendamm
Kurfürstendamm and Tauentzienstraße shine bright with millions of lights. Around 650 illuminated trees turn the streets into a sea of light. And no matter how pretty the photos of our Instagram community are – you just have to see this for yourselves.
Ampelmann in front of Brandenburg Gate
How about taking a stroll along Berlin’s grand boulevard “Unter den Linden”? Pause to absorb the marvellous Christmas tree in front of Brandenburg Gate when arriving at Pariser Platz. It's so pretty!
Potsdamer Platz
Potsdamer Platz is better known for contemporary architecture than for a snug atmosphere. Not so during Christmas! Shooting stars, a toboggan run and thousands of lights create fantastical moments when walking from Mall of Berlin to the theatre.
Potsdamer Platz Shopping Arkaden
When you’re passing by Potsdamer Platz, you can not only warm up at a mulled wine stand, but also inside of Potsdamer Platz' Shopping Arkaden. Shopping seems secondary, as soon as you see the fancy decorations. That’s what makes it one of my Christmas secret tips for Berlin.
Berlin Mitte
Not far from Berlin Dungeon, you can find these beautiful Christmas stars - spectacularly captured as a reflected alley of blue sparkling lights.
Ps.: Of course there are even more Christmassy spots in Berlin. Especially Christmas markets like Gendarmenmarkt or Schloss Charlottenburg are full of Christmas magic. See all Berlin Christmas markets here.
