Berlin is known for its cultural and gastronomic diversity. There is always something new to discover and try. This is also the case in the many Japanese restaurants, which have so much to offer: delicious sushi, ramen and fusion cuisine. Who knows, maybe your new favourite restaurant is among them.

Tip 1: Enjoy vegan sushi creations

The Secret Garden I Vegan Sushi is no longer so secret. Many of you will have heard of it or even been there. Under the motto "Super tasty food with a good conscience", the restaurant is committed to our planet and will enchant you with vegan creative sushi variations. But you will also find ramen and other main dishes on the menu. The restaurant is lovingly designed in a Far Eastern wooden look. The highlights are definitely the glass tables with a small moss landscape under the glass top. If you're lucky, you'll get a seat by the window. There you'll have the perfect view of the always bustling Warschauer Straße.

Somewhat hidden behind a red door in the heart of Berlin-Mitte, you'll find Oukan. Here you can enjoy fine dining with carefully prepared and multi-layered dishes. The various courses are presented to you in detail at the table. In addition to high-quality Japanese, Chinese and Taiwanese teas and Japanese spirits, the Oukan also offers selected wines.

Tip 3: Be inspired by creative Japanese cuisine at 892 Ryotei

Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior and the spray-painted house wall. Contrary to what you might think, 893 Ryotei is located here in Kantstraße. The black interior looks simple and elegant at the same time. The open kitchen in the centre of the restaurant allows you to watch your food being prepared. The food is high-quality and creative, as the restaurant also looks for inspiration beyond classic Japanese cuisine, which means you will also find dishes such as various sashimi taquitos on the menu.

Tip 4: Get cosy at Beyond Ramen

Ramen lovers take note! At Beyond Ramen you can get delicious ramen. There are also lots of small starters that are perfect for sharing with friends. The restaurant has a simple but authentic Japanese interior. A really cosy oasis of well-being. And if you prefer to eat alone or want more privacy, Beyond Ramen also offers individual seats. These look like small booths. With wooden walls and a small curtain, they are shielded from the hustle and bustle of the restaurant. Incidentally, Beyond Ramen is also Berlin's first completely vegan ramen bar, which is another reason to try the menu with your vegan and non-vegan friends.

Tip 5: Savour Japanese pastries at Kame

You can find Kame - Japanese Bites at two locations in Berlin. After a stroll along Ku'damm, it's a good idea to stop off at the branch in Leibnizstraße. Here you can enjoy a variety of Japanese pastries and drinks, including typical Japanese green tea, matcha and, of course, various types of coffee. The menu includes various sweet treats: from matcha cheesecake and mochi to matcha brownies. But you can also enjoy savoury dishes such as curry pan, various bowls and bento boxes at Kame.

Tip 6: Enjoy fresh sushi at Roji

Real sushi art awaits you at Roji: freshly prepared and hand-rolled. The sushi is lovingly prepared according to the motto "You eat with your eyes". The Roji emphasises that your visit is much more than just a simple meal. It's about the experience as a whole, about aesthetics, well-being and harmony. And you can experience all of this in a modern ambience that is modelled on Japanese aesthetics.

A high-quality omakase menu is on offer at Shiori. Omakase means that the chef decides what to cook and serve. The various courses are then prepared for you at the table and explained individually. Hospitality is a top priority here and every evening is a unique experience. This is also reflected in the carefully seasonal menus and the restaurant's decor.

Tip 8: Taste high-quality fish and the best seafood at The Catch

You can enjoy contemporary Japanese cuisine at The Catch in Charlottenburg. It serves the highest quality fish and seafood, as well as grilled dishes and Japanese fast food such as bowls, tempura and karaage. The restaurant is designed in the Izakaya style like a traditional Japanese pub, offering alcoholic drinks as well as snacks. If you are at The Catch with several people, you should definitely order plenty of delicacies to share.

Tip 9: Experience the fusion of French and Japanese delicacies at Café Komine

In Schöneberg, near Viktoria-Luise-Platz, you will find Café Komine. The French-Japanese patisserie conjures up sweet delicacies that are reminiscent of small works of art. On offer are various pastries and desserts such as a yuzu cheesecake, matcha tiramisu, fraise earl grey and, of course, drinks. You can choose between selected Japanese and French teas, but coffee and some cold drinks are also on the menu.

Tip 10: Learn more about the Japanese way of BBQ

Japanese Yakiniku, the Japanese form of BBQ, is the ideal night out experience if you are with a small or large group. The USHIDO is the first Japanese BBQ in Berlin. Each table has a built-in grill. You can grill your own meat and vegetables in small bites. Ushido means "the philosophy of beef", so you can be sure of getting top-quality meat here. USHIDO also offers wagyu, which is considered the most expensive and best beef.

Tip 11: Get to know authentic Japanese cuisine at UDAGAWA

The UDAGAWA in Steglitz has been around since 1987. If you're looking for authentic Japanese cuisine, you can't go past this place. The menu includes various Japanese fish and meat dishes. But also bentos, sashimi, tempura and many hot and cold starters and side dishes. If you are here to eat sushi, the staff will give you a sushi menu on request.  The restaurant is very small, but has a pleasant and homely atmosphere.
