Baptism for self-determination
In the Netflix series Unorthodox, one of the key scenes takes place at Strandbad Wannsee.
In the series, which is based on the book Unorthodox by Deborah Feldman, the main character Etsy leaves the ultra-Orthodox community in New York and thus also her family. She tries to build a new existence in Berlin and get accepted at the music academy. On a swimming trip with her new friends, she takes off her wig and thus frees herself from her past.
The scenes at the Musikhochschule were filmed in the Musikinstrumentenmuseum am Kulturform, which architecturally resembles the Philharmonie.
