One ticket for all exhibitions: The Wall Museum at Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin

The Wall Museum was founded by Dr Rainer Hildebrandt directly at the Checkpoint Charlie border crossing immediately after the Wall was built as an initiative of civic engagement and opened in 1962, becoming the last island of freedom directly at the most famous border crossing between West and East. As a museum, the Wall Museum is unique in that it not only pays tribute to the past, but also shows the present in a lively and constantly evolving way.

The exhibitions and themed areas at a glance:

Permanent exhibition: The history of the Berlin Wall - from its construction to its fall

The permanent exhibition about the Berlin Wall shows the history of what was probably the most strictly guarded border in the world. In the exhibition rooms you can see original objects from successful escapes, from getaway cars to hot air balloons, from self-built mini-submarines to deceptively real surfboards.

Exhibition about Raoul Wallenberg

The exhibition about the Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg, who saved thousands of people of Jewish descent from the Nazis in occupied Budapest, was himself abducted by the Soviets in January 1945 and never returned, reveals the truth about the crimes committed by the Soviets after the end of the war in 1945.

Exhibition: NATO - Mission for Freedom

In addition, the history of the international non-violent struggle for human rights and the liberation movements of Central and Eastern Europe, GDR opposition and the fall of the Berlin Wall are documented and presented. The exhibition "NATO - Mission for Freedom" on the history of NATO complements the themes of post-war history worldwide.

Collections, special themes, current affairs, political art, contemporary documents, pictures & more

In addition to the display panels and the escape objects, the works of the artists who dealt with this cruel division in their art are also presented. Today's global events are also documented and presented.
