The best Kebabs, Durums and Lahmacuns

Even the most ardent sightseer has to take a break to eat sometime, so why not sample one of the city's specialities – the Berliner kebab. Adapted from the traditional Turkish-style kebab, a Berliner is a pitta bread pocket filled with spiced meat, salad and sauce, developed in Berlin in 1972. Known in other places as the "doner" kebab, this treat is a real German favourite, with over 1000 outlets selling kebabs in Berlin alone. Such is the city's love for the Berliner kebab that there is an annual Kebabistan food festival featuring not just kebabs, but food from across the world.
