Tranquil, romantic and worth an extensive walk: in the west of the capital lies the old town of Spandau. A remnant of the city wall from the 14th century, a fortress from the Renaissance period and unusual half-timbered facades bear witness to centuries of settlement history. Even though unfortunately little original building fabric remains today, it is still worth strolling through the winding alleys, crossing old market squares and discovering small special shops. Afterwards, you can have a freshly brewed coffee in a pastry shop and enjoy handmade specialities.

While shopping, also visit one of the weekly markets and fill your basket with fresh fruit and crisp vegetables. Afterwards, fortify yourself at one of the hearty snack stands.

If you like shopping, you'll find a surprising variety in every corner of Berlin. Navigate your way through the capital's shopping world.
