Schwulenberatung Berlin

All-round support for homosexual men

This is one of the oldest and most prominent gay institutions in the city. Schwulenberatung Berlin, which was established in 1982, is more than just an advice centre - it is a combined competence centre covering diverse issues concerning men who love men, and much more. Here, you can find a qualified person to talk to about concerns regarding all situations in life, such as sex or addiction problems, questions about getting older, unemployment, illness, and disabilities. Dedicated projects such ManCheck for HIV primary prevention, and Queer Leben for transgender issues, are part of the gay advice service. The showcase project of the organisation is Lebensort Vielfalt, a retirement home for gay people. Here, homosexual men and women from several generations live together, including the first gay residential community for people with dementia. The residential building also has its own café and event room, the "wilde Oscar", on the ground floor. The gay advice service itself is located on the lower levels of this facility.
