The summer is slowly coming to an end. It was a beautiful time with days full of sunshine and long warm summer nights. But before we go for a walk in the rustling leaves or lie down on the sofa with a book in autumn, we have put together 11 tips for places where you can enjoy the last rays of the sun and late summer moments with all your heart.
Tip 1: View from Müggelturm
If the leaves in Berlin's forests are colourful, it is especially worthwhile to take a long look at them. From the Müggelturm in Köpenick you have a fantastic view over the Müggelsee and the Müggelberge mountains to the city centre of Berlin and far out to Brandenburg.
Where: Müggelturm, Straße zum Müggelturm 1, Köpenick

Tip 2: A walk through the Grunewald
Take a deep breath and smell the forest before it gets wet and cold again: During a walk in the Grunewald you can experience the summer once more. There you can also climb the Grunewaldturm, the counterpart to the Müggelturm, and enjoy the view over the surrondings and river Havel.
Where: Grunewald, Charlottenburg / Zehlendorf

Tip 3: Swimming in lake Schlachtensee
Every Berliner has his favourite lake. Now it is time to say goodbye to the bathing pleasure. As long as the sun is still warm, you can blink one last time in the sun, jump into your favourite lake and enjoy the cool water. Bathing in the Schlachtensee is wonderful, when the trees all around are slowly changing colour.
Where: Schlachtensee, Fischerhüttenstraße 136, Zehlendorf

Tip 4: Savignyplatz
Would you rather show your chic sunglasses for the last time in town? Then sit down in one of the cafés or restaurants on Savignyplatz near Kurfürstendamm. The square is one of the most beautiful in town and a popular place to go out - perfect for a summer aperitif. At the square there are several restaurants with Italian, Spanish or Asian cuisine to choose from. Or you can dine hearty Berlinish in the restaurant Zwiebelfisch or Dicke Wirtin and enjoy the hustle and bustle on the square.
Where: Savignyplatz, Charlottenburg

Tip 5: Sundowner on the roof terrace
Hold the aperitif in the setting sun and look over the roofs of the city, while the sun slowly disappears: This summer the roof terraces were especially popular to start the evening. You can enjoy a fantastic view over the City West in the trendy Grace Rooftop Bar on Kurfürstendamm. Just around the corner - near the zoo - you will find the Monkey Bar with a terrace and delicious drinks. If you like it more casual, then you have that typical cool and relaxed Berlin feeling - and a breathtaking view in the Klunkerkranich in Neukölln. You also have a great view from Deck 5, a chic beach club on the roof of a parking garage.

Tip 6: RIVO - Spreeterrassen
The restaurant terrace of the RIVO - Spreeterrassen lies directly on the shore, so that you can almost dangle with your feet in the water. And at the same time you have a fantastic view of Berlin's most beautiful bridge, the Oberbaumbrücke, and the river Spree, while you sunbathe again with coffee and cake or a delicious lunch.
Where: RIVA - Spreeterrassen, May-Ayim-Ufer 9, Kreuzberg

Tip 7: Park of palace Babelsberg
You have the most beautiful view of the Havellandschaft between Berlin and Potsdam from the park of Babelsberg Palace. So, go to Potsdam and enjoy the view of the water, Potsdam and the gentle hills as well as the magical atmosphere in the gardens of Prince Pückler.
Babelsberg Castle is currently closed. However, a visit to the park is still worthwhile.

Tip 8: Walk along the Rummelsburger Bucht
On a walk along the shore of the bay Rummelsburger Bucht you can take another deep breath and let your gaze wander. You can choose between the northern route to the port or the southern route along the Stralau peninsula, where you can walk along the water all the time.
And for all movie fans: Visit the Paul-und-Paula-Ufer and sit on the bench.

Tip 9: Naturpark Südgelände
Wild nature instead of an industrial area: The rails in the ground and the old locomotive hall bear witness to the past as a marshalling yard, otherwise nature has reconquered the area and transformed it into an enchanted place. The Naturpark Südgelände is particularly beautiful in late summer, when the shadows are already longer and mild sunrays fall through the colourful leaves.
Where: Naturpark Südgelände, Prellerweg 47-49, Schöneberg

Tip 10: Restaurant boats
On Berlin's restaurant ships you can relax and enjoy your meal while the boat rocks quietly and you have a wonderful view of the water. Alte Liebe on the Havel looks back on a proud tradition. Tip 11: Auguststraße
Berlin Art Week takes place in September, so you can discover the latest art trends everywhere. On a stroll through Auguststraße and the surrounding streets you can browse through the galleries and be inspired by well-known and still to be discovered artists.
Afterwards we recommend a breather in the garden of Clärchens Ballhaus to sit under rustic trees and enjoy the sun. If you want to discover more contemporary art in Berlin, check out our article on galleries and exhibition spaces in Berlin.
