Exclusive festive menu and family programme

The French Cathedral opens its historic doors at Easter for a special culinary and cultural experience.

Visitors can look forward to an exquisite 4-course menu in a unique setting, combined with a visit to the 360-degree viewing platform and an Easter egg hunt for the little ones.

Gastronomic highlight with regional specialities

The focus is on a specially created festive menu, which is offered as a classic meat option as well as a sophisticated vegan alternative and a fish option. ‘We attach particular importance to regional and seasonal products,’ explains head chef Sebastian Fiedler. ‘This is how we combine Berlin tradition with modern culinary concepts.’

The meat option spoils you with marinated Brandenburg char as a starter, followed by pink lamb rump with thyme jus as the main course. The vegan menu impresses with a sophisticated vegetable cream cheese terrine to start and green spelt courgettes with roasted white asparagus as the main course. The fish menu offers barded goat's cheese with olive tapenade and char involtini. All menu options are rounded off with carrot cake or white chocolate mousse and petit fours.

Panoramic views and family fun

The culinary experience can optionally be combined with a visit to the popular 360-degree viewing platform of the French Cathedral. ‘The breathtaking view over Berlin adds an extra dimension to the Easter celebrations,’ says Anne Heinemann, team leader at the Französischer Dom. For families with children, there will be a special Easter egg hunt in the historic building - fun that will make the little ones' eyes light up.

Secure limited places

Due to the limited number of participants, early booking is recommended. ‘Our aim is to guarantee all guests an exclusive experience in a special atmosphere,’ emphasises Heinemann. Detailed information on prices, dates and booking options can be found on the French Cathedral website.

Historical background

The French Cathedral has an eventful history: in 1705, French religious refugees - the Huguenots - built the Französische Friedrichstadtkirche on Gendarmenmarkt. The actual cathedral was only added later, between 1780 and 1785, by Carl von Gontard on the orders of Frederick the Great as a representative decorative tower without an ecclesiastical function.

During the Second World War, the baroque ensemble was severely damaged by firebombs, destroying the striking dome of the tower. In the 1980s, the Evangelical Church of Germany financed the reconstruction of the cathedral, including a new viewing platform and carillon. Since 2021, the Berlin agency BESONDERE ORTE Umweltforum Berlin GmbH has been operating the viewing platform, the Hugo & Notte restaurant and the event rooms in the French Cathedral.
