The artist Natalia Stachon repeatedly deals with contemporary cities and their transformation. In doing so, she is on the lookout for images, fragments and elements of urban space that can serve as an initial spark for multi-layered sensations.
Her solo exhibition “Between the acts, an interval” at Galerie Parterre shows current sculptures, installations and drawings as well as works from the last ten years that shed light on this search.
The exhibition title “Between the acts, an interval” quotes a line from the poem “Between” (2010-2014) by Ursula K. Le Guin. In it, Le Guin traces, among other things, the fleeting moment that occurs between two acts. A final pause for breath or interruption in which the story seems to stand still for a moment.
Natalia Stachon also captures this momentum: In her works, the everyday, pragmatic, loud and bright elements of human infrastructure seem reversed into their opposite, as if they have been shock-frozen. Are they silent witnesses of the past or empty backdrops for future events?
