Future Tools Series

“Future Tools” is the current series of workshops that deals intensively with various technologies: Here, training is provided on the machines of the future and these are used to develop new ideas.

In this Open Lab evening, participants will deal with the dream tool of all fans of three-dimensionality - the 3D printer. Are you interested in 3D printers and are looking for a beginners course on 3D printing? Then come to this Open Lab evening for a simple and clear introduction.

WHAT IS AN OPEN LAB EVENING?

Every Thursday, things get creative in the lab. You will learn about methods such as design thinking or future storytelling, you can try out 3D printers and laser cutters and take a look behind the scenes of the lab projects. There is something new every week.

In this workshop, you will learn important basics for implementing your own 3D printing projects. Using the example of a small lettering, we will demonstrate how you can create your own 3D printing designs with TinkerCAD and print them on the Ultimaker 2 with the help of Cura. Join in and become a "digital maker" in no time.

The 3D printer and the materials for experimentation can be used free of charge on site. Bringing your own laptop is an advantage for developing your own design. But don't worry, we also have laptops on site.

A practical tip: Printing on the 3D printer takes a relatively long time. The focus is on insight into the technology - so we cannot promise that all visitors will be able to print something.

This is what you will learn:

  • What is a 3D printer?
  • 3D printing materials: Which materials can you print with?
  • How do I create a design?
  • 3D printer instruction - safety first!
  • Tips and tricks
