Film screening and discussion
The film sheds light on German musical life between 1933 and 1945 through the Jewish cellist Anita Lasker-Wallfisch, the only survivor of the survivor of the girls' orchestra in the Auschwitz Birkenau concentration camp, and the internationally renowned conductor Wilhelm Furtwängler, who was chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra from 1922 to 1945.

Interlocutors partners in the film are Anita Lasker-Wallfisch and, among others, the conductors Daniel Barenboim and Christian Thielemann.
The historical film material was scanned in high resolution, digitally restored and carefully colourised for the first time.
Following the screening Rebecca Wolf and Helge Grünewald talk to director Christian Berger.
