The neighborhoods around the Villa Oppenheim were repeatedly scenes of political violence since the early 1930s. With the rise of the National Socialists, the SA Storm 33 spread terror. Particularly significant was the communist resistance in the "Little Wedding" area, but there were also people from other political backgrounds who opposed the regime. They raised their voices against Nazi policies, supported actions against the regime, or advocated for the persecuted.

The city walk narrates selected events and personalities of protest and resistance along historical sites. It also addresses hol resistance has been remembered since 1945 and what markers have been placed in the urban space.
