Lecture and discussion

There is no alternative to expanding the renewable energy infrastructure. However, this expansion and the associated need for metal must not lead to new global injustices, human rights violations and environmental destruction.

PowerShift e.V. highlights the urgency of transforming the use of raw materials in the sense of a raw materials turnaround. The lecture will show the effects of mining and describe potential for reducing the ecological and social impacts of metal use.

Approaches to solutions will be presented as to what a comprehensive energy transition, a mobility transition and a greater use of the circular economy could look like, taking human rights due diligence into account.
