Substanz20, eine getanzte Phantasie

In the performative dance piece, the two protagonists take that unknown, liberated path that allows them to break out of the conventions of everyday life in order to find trust, hope and community. We all know that feeling of fear of the unknown. The combative frenzy of curiosity, rejection, ecstasy, resignation and silence begins.

The spirit of the 1920s feels very close to today and embodies a mixture of stagnation and departure. You don't know which way the pendulum will swing tomorrow. The tragic knowledge of the dependence of our lives on cosmic uncertainties, the substances of life, can tempt us to want to escape the factor of time.

Addicted, full of pain and fatalism, "Substanz20" quotes the spirit of the "Golden 20s". The story is told between the lines, sometimes in chorus, sometimes synchronously and in duet. Elements from Oskar Schlemmer's Triadic Ballet with tango, swing and modern dance (theater) are combined to create a choreography that reflects the many often contradictory faces of this time.

The performers bring dance, acting and life experience to the stage. Sounds and silence accompany the piece.
