Original title: Monty Python's And Now for Something Completely Different

The work of the Monty Python group around Terry Gilliam has been a fixture since the 1970s when it comes to the alliance between film and the surreal world. Rarely has it been possible to raise the absurdity of reality to such surreal, funny levels: perhaps this was only possible for a very short period in the 1970s.

In Monty Python's films, reality is so mercilessly exaggerated and constantly broken that reality simply loses its meaning. This is reminiscent of André Breton's surrealist manifesto: the belief in the dissolution of dream and reality in an absolute reality.

"The Wonderful World of Gravity" is a film spin-off of the British TV comedy series "Monty Python's Flying Circus". Seven actors play around a hundred characters in total. Live action is mixed with animated sequences.

A presenter works his way through the events and repeatedly guides the viewer with the legendary phrase "And now for something completely different" into new worlds of experience in which the absurd comedy of Monty Python reaches a climax that is still unforgettable today.

Directed by Ian MacNaughton, GB 1971, 85 min, color, DF
