Playfulness, satirical sharpness, linguistic wit, fragility, charm, social criticism - Mascha Kaléko's verses were not only relevant in the 1920s and 30s, they are timeless and unique. They reflect the poet's life, which symbolizes diaspora, uprooting and forced homelessness.

Birth in Galicia, expulsion from Germany, "speechlessness" in America, return to Berlin, where Mascha Kaléko no longer recognizes her adopted home, isolation and renewed speechlessness in Israel, finally the pain of the death of her son and husband, and her own death in Switzerland.

A journey through the life and poetry of the poet.

With Judith Kessler as narrator and Max Doehlemann on the piano.
