Tehran theatre group “Prometheus Theatre” performs on the Brotfabrik stage

The production of Elektra by Iranian director Farzad Amini is like a ritual. A ritual to cleanse the soul of hatred, bitterness and suffering.

The music for the piece comes from folklore and rural areas of Iran. Music and songs performed by shepherds, fishermen, workers and farmers during work or during rituals or mourning.

The set is also a sign of mythological symbols and ancient life. Scythe, dagger, jug, sword, bamboo cane, bird feathers and some cow horns with which the actors narrate the dramatic situations.

During his 22 years of working with actors, Amini has studied Jerzy Grotowski's acting theory intensively. His works are regularly performed in a small independent theater in Tehran. One of them is being shown in Germany for the first time.
