Triple Bill Performance: Pau Aran, Dominique McDougal, und Pamela Pietro

Pau Aran: Seeking After Truth (July 27 + 28): Seeking the Truth is an energetic abstract-compositional dance solo performance by Pau Aran Gimeno. It deals with states of frustration, conflict, the need for belonging and the feeling of rejection.

This work goes beyond collective questions. It explores the inner revolution of identity and looks at the encounters between different cultures and faiths. It raises existential questions about belonging in a world where rejection lurks around every corner.

Dominique McDougal: CAN re-imagined (27 of July)

Can is a performative solo creation that honors the wonderful people whose paths artist Dominique McDougal has crossed in their lives, be they family members or friends. Originally created in collaboration with Yuri Zhukov, the concept was expanded to include the personal and emotional.

This work is a love letter to those who, according to Dominique, left us too soon. Their names and their love for them are carved into the room to their favorite pieces of music.

Pamela Pietro- in collaboration with Luis A. Lara Malvacías: “La La La La La” (working title) (27 + 28 of July)

Pamela Pietro, choreographer, performer, educator, curator, chair and art professor at the NYU Tisch Department of Dance, invited choreographer and multidisciplinary Venezuelan artist Luis A. Lara Malvacías to create a new solo piece to be premiered in summer 2024. The creation process of "La La La La" (working title) began with a dialogue between the two collaborators about the question of what captivates Pamela most when watching a dance piece.

Unpredictability, nuance, use of voice, the unexpected, silence and the aging body were some ideas that came to the fore. Other aspects of this process include Pamela's desire to collaborate, learn, and be part of someone else's practice.
