Object-related, illusionistic, mimetic, transformative: the interiors of the painter Fides Becker (* 1962 in Worms) and the photographer Anja Teske (* 1964 in Minden) find both points of contact and contrasts in an installative spatial situation.

Both artists are inspired by everyday objects from different eras and capture carefully arranged home furnishings on the surface. With camera and brush, they direct the viewer’s gaze into hidden areas of the personal.
They artistically roam along furniture, carpets and chandeliers with different surfaces in order to trace the subject behind the individual staging.
How the homo habitans, the dwelling person, experiences the space – inspired or abandoned, protected or trapped, reduced or opulent – all this reflects existential states of being and turns apartments into portraits of their inhabitants.
Using complex artistic means, Fides Becker and Anja Teske devote themselves to real interiors and subject them to meticulous analysis.
Both the painter and the photographer use light in a very deliberate and extremely sophisticated way to give rooms and objects a pronounced physicality. The result is a fascinating visual dialog about a classic genre of art.
