Event series

The interpretation of music has changed constantly over the past 200 years, both large and small, sometimes even fundamentally.

As a whole, it is not easy to grasp the numerous twists and turns - but concentrated consideration of individual dimensions of musical interpretation promises to reveal crucial perspectives and practices.

With its approach, the event series fits into one of SIM's major research and publication projects: the history of musical interpretation in the 19th and 20th centuries, the fourth and final volume of which will appear in 2024.

Short introductions to the respective topic, clear demonstrations live or in another medium as well as conversations with scientists, artists and the audience should complement each other in different ways.

At the opening of this year's series on May 16th at 6 p.m., Peter Gülke, to whom the interpretation of music and its research owes so much, will be celebrated on his 90th birthday.
