Guided tour with Imke Küster

In July 1941, the municipal mental hospital for children, known as “Wiesengrund” for short, was set up in Wittenau at Eichborndamm 238/240. Children who were classified as “unworthy of life” according to the guidelines of the National Socialist “heredity and race theory” were admitted to ward 3 with the deceptive additional name “Children's Department”.

Many children died as a result of risky medical experiments and examination methods, due to a lack of medical attention or a lack of nutrition.

The tour at the authentic location conveys the history of the former children's clinic using the example of individual patients' fates.
