The cemetery, which was laid out in 1848, received a chapel with a mortuary in 1867, near which is the impressive mausoleum of the Francke family. Other interesting grave monuments from the 19th and early 20th centuries have been preserved along the cemetery walls.

Five outstanding examples were created thanks to the support of the Federal Commissioner for Culture and Media and the Berlin State Monuments Office as well as the Ev.'s own funds. Cemetery association saved from decay.

In addition to artfully designed lattice graves and Art Nouveau grave monuments, the tour also includes the life-time allegories of the sculptor J.M. Bossard and a selection of the celebrity graves in the cemetery are presented.
