The ground under Tempelhofer Feld

The participants immerse themselves in the world beneath their feet and explore the ground in the urban space on Tempelhofer Feld. It is not only an important recreational area, but also an outstanding location for biotope and species protection as well as the urban climate.

The tour will look at the fascinating ecosystem beneath the green surface - the soil in urban areas and its complex formation and development.

Participants learn how the soil reflects the historical use of the field and what role it plays in today's vegetation.

The tour aims to guide you interactively and comprehensibly through the topic of soil in urban environments and to shed light on the special features of anthropogenically influenced soil and the role of soil in the development of biotopes. The participants will also address topics such as contaminated sites, pollutants and ordnance and discuss their effects on environmental areas such as groundwater.

An important concern is to sharpen the understanding of the soil ecosystem and at the same time promote awareness of the urban ecological importance of the Tempelhofer Feld. Together, options for action to protect the valuable resource of soil can be explored.

The team is looking forward to going on a journey of discovery with the participants and taking a look beneath the surface of the Tempelhofer Feld.

This offer is aimed at adults.
