Naturpark Märkische Schweiz

Because the distance is so close ..

The smallest but oldest nature park in Brandenburg has long been a getaway for city dwellers wanting some time outdoors. The Märkische Schweiz is a hilly landscape [about 30 km east of Berlin] known for its lakes and streams, surrounded by woods, meadows, hedges and marshes. Almost the entire area of the nature park has been named a European bird sanctuary, making it a proper paradise for nature lovers. The Kneipp spa town of Buckow houses the nature park’s visitor centre Schweizer Haus; it offers lots of information about the park’s geology, nature and animal species. It also provides a good place to start your cycling and hiking excursions through the Märkische Schweiz.
