Senftenberg

The lakeside town

The historic town of Senftenberg is located in the heart of the Lausitzer Seenland (Lusatian Lake District). It is directly next to the Senftenberger See, which is blessed with good water quality. Diving, canoeing or tour with the Seenlandbahn (lake district railway) give visitors plenty of choice for exploring the beauty of the lake.

Around the lake

Another sporty and relaxing way to get about is on two wheels. Six extensive cycling paths pass Senftenberg and there are shorter paths around the lake. The many places to swim around the lake are great spots to take a break or you might want to make them the destination of your cycling tour. The town itself has beautiful, historical neighbourhoods, such as the garden village of Marga, built in the art nouveau style, and nearby Niemtscher Park. For architecture enthusiasts, the floating houses on nearby Geierswalder See are an attraction.
