Garden tour

The mysterious Grottenberg was built for King Friedrich Wilhelm III and Queen Luise towards the end of the 18th century. A colorful pavilion in Far Eastern style crowned the hill, a grotto decorated with mirror glass, porcelain and shells and a seemingly sunken ancient temple completed the picturesque ensemble.

After 1945, the unused site fell into disrepair. in 2013, archaeological excavations revealed surprisingly well-preserved parts of the grotto and temple ruins. These finds, great civic commitment and craftsmanship made it possible to restore the Grottenberg.

The ticket price includes an individual tour of the castle.
