In autumn, you can easily integrate sustainability into your everyday life. Delicious seasonal products land on the table during harvest time. Nature puts on its brightest colours to create a beautiful backdrop for cycling tours and walks. And if the weather doesn't cooperate, interesting workshops, shopping and exhibitions are on the agenda.
Tip 1: Discover everything about sustainability at Veggienale
![Streetfood Streetfood Berlin](/system/files/styles/visitberlin_content_image_medium_visitberlin_mobile_1x/private/image/Street%20Food_c_iStock_PamelaJoeMcFarlane_DL_PPT_2.jpg?itok=jIFtmII8)
Not only will you find lots of vegan and vegetarian products, but also everything to do with upcycling, fair trade and zero waste at the Veggienale. When you're not strolling through the stands of the 100 exhibitors, you can follow the stage programme with lectures, workshops and cooking shows.
When: 18 and 19 November
Where: Loewe Saal, Wiebestraße 42, Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf
Tip 2: Getting new impulses at Science Week
![Green Thinking Light bulb covered in grass shows concept of thinking green](/system/files/styles/visitberlin_content_image_medium_visitberlin_mobile_1x/private/image/Gl%C3%BChbirne_mit_Gras_bedeckt_1258859876_c_GettyImages_mikkelwilliam_web.jpg?itok=VUIkdoU8)
A must for everyone who wants to get to grips with the topic of sustainability is the Berlin Science Week. The programme includes numerous events from a wide range of disciplines. Broaden your horizons with lectures such as "Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability", "Enlightenment and the Humanities in the Face of the Climate Crisis" or "Designing beyond Crisis" and many more topics.
When: 1 to 10 November
Where: Various locations in Berlin
Tip 3: Making the most of harvest time
![Pumpkin Pie](/system/files/styles/visitberlin_content_image_medium_visitberlin_mobile_1x/private/image/Pumpkin_Pie_1386915479_c_GettyImages_Roberta_Lazar_web_0.jpg?itok=lYHl8Sjm)
The best way to eat sustainably is with local and seasonal products. This reduces transport distances and your money goes to local farmers. In autumn, it's time to head to the weekly markets or - if the weather doesn't cooperate - to Berlin's beautiful market halls. Buy a bright orange pumpkin or juicy chestnuts. And if you don't like to cook yourself, visit Berlin's many restaurants that focus on seasonal produce.

Tip 4: Share food
When the harvest season showers you with delicious food, sometimes it can be more than you can eat. How good that there are food sharing initiatives. In Neukölln, for example, the "Fair-Teiler" meet twice a week to rescue food from markets, bakeries and canteens. You can drop something off yourself and take what you need with you.
When: Tuesday 8 to 9 p.m., Thursday 6 to 7 p.m.
Where: Braunschweiger Straße 80, Neukölln
Tip 5: Visit the exhibition "Unwetter" at Humboldt University
![Statue Alexander von Humboldt Statue Alexander von Humboldt in Berlin](/system/files/styles/visitberlin_content_image_medium_visitberlin_mobile_1x/private/image/Humboldt_c_GettyImages_Foto_arie.j.jager_DL_PPT_0.jpg?itok=v1o7pPII)
In autumn, we feel the change of seasons especially through falling temperatures and increasing precipitation. In the exhibition "Unwetter" by Katharina Ziemke, you can ponder the ominous beauty of storms. But the exhibition has a serious background, as local weather phenomena such as heavy rain or squalls are also the result of global climate change.
When: Until 10 November
Where: Humboldt University, Lichthof Ost, Unter den Linden 6, Mitte
Tip 6: Take autumn walks

When there is no storm raging outside and autumn is showing its golden, sunny side, an autumn walk is the best idea. You're sure to have the smell of autumn in your nose just thinking about it. We have put together the most beautiful routes for a successful walk for you in our blog article.
Tip 7: Crafting, handicrafts and participating in workshops
![Tailors](/system/files/styles/visitberlin_content_image_medium_visitberlin_mobile_1x/private/image/Schneiderin_GettyImages-157204333_Foto_Tony%20C%20French_web_5.jpg?itok=2m96Txv-)
In the cooler months of the year, you can finally dedicate yourself to DIY projects again. Regular workshops are held at NochMall and Haus der Statistik. Whether it's upcycling, repairing or other exciting ideas, the first Christmas gifts can already be created while you're tinkering and working. How about a reusable Advent calendar, for example?
Tip 8: Go on a sustainable shopping tour
![nōs store Berlin Schöneberg noes Store](/system/files/styles/visitberlin_content_image_medium_visitberlin_mobile_1x/private/image/noes_store_nachhaltige_Haushaltswaren_Schoeneberg_4_c_visitBerlin_Maria_Grade_web.jpg?itok=Ki5W8ezt)
Since such an advent calendar also needs to be filled and it is wise to start looking for the first Christmas presents, go on a shopping spree. This way you can buy meaningful gifts and not last-minute nonsense. We have compiled some recommendations for sustainable shopping here. At the Old Fleas Berlin Vintage Market at Ballhaus Berlin you can also browse for treasures from the 1920s to the 1980s.
When: 5 November, 11 am to 5 pm
Where: Ballhaus Berlin, Chausseestraße 102, Mitte
Tip 9: Take a trip to Ökowerk

The Ökowerk environmental education centre between Teufelssee and Teufelsberg is always worth a trip. It is ideal for a bicycle tour. From 23 October, there will also be an environmental education holiday programme for children, for which you can register your offspring still.

The Egg House in Spreepark is also a good destination for an autumn excursion. It is easy to reach on foot, by bike and even by water. The Eierhäuschen is the Spreepark's first completed building. In addition to a restaurant, the historic pub also includes project rooms and studios for artists. On 12 November, you can enjoy a third vegan Sunday there with street food, music and more.
