Electress Dorothea was the second wife of Friedrich Wilhelm von Brandenburg, who gave her Caputh Castle as a gift. From his first marriage he brought three boys into the marriage. Dorothea and Friedrich Wilhelm had seven more children together.

How did such a princely blended family live back then? What is an elector anyway and what were the duties of an electress? Dorothea was involved far beyond what was usual at the time and was also politically active. And in her castle she surrounded herself with many beautiful things such as paintings, furniture and other valuable treasures.
