Special exhibition

The special exhibition "Project Lightspeed - With mRNA technology to the Corona vaccine" will show the development of the world's first COVID-19 vaccine, which was implemented in record time. The vaccine is based on BioNTech's decade-long mRNA technology.

The exhibition is based on film footage by director Michael Schindhelm, who interviewed Ugur Sahin, Özlem Türeci and the team.

Important milestones in the fight against COVID-19 and the potential of mRNA become visible in the video sequences. The exhibition also features a unique selection of exhibits from BioNTech.

Michael Schindhelm was awarded the Herbert Quandt Media Prize 2022 for his documentary "At the Speed of Light to Vaccines - The BioNTech Project" (Arte).

Via an interactive website and the exhibition in the museum, the hybrid format provides insight into the work on the messenger molecule mRNA, which has long been underestimated in research. "Project Lightspeed" explains why this technology could revolutionize medicine.
