Strandbad Grünau

Berlin’s oldest family beach

What began as a family beach in 1908 now offers fun in the water, a holiday atmosphere, and a colourful mixture of various attractions every day of the week.

Grünau Public Beach was Berlin’s first real family beach. While men and women were segregated at other swimming areas, families got to have fun in the water together at Grünau. This tradition lives on to this day, and Sunday in particular is an excellent time for family outings to the beach. Admission is free as of 17:00.

The beach offers a variety of attractions during the week, starting with salsa and bachata on Monday for some Mediterranean flair after work. Here you can show off your dancing skills or simply listen to the spirited music out in the fresh air. Admission is free as of 17:00, and the music starts at 18:00. Tuesday is a little quieter, with the outdoor cinema showing Oscar-winning and classic films on a 28 square metre screen. With your feet in the sand, sitting comfortably in a large beach chair, and popcorn in your hand, an exciting or humorous evening awaits.
Every Wednesday is Beach Day. This means discounted admission for everyone, children’s movies starting at 18:00, and free admission starting at 17:00. After Work on Thursday. With a live DJ and 2-for-1 prices in select drinks, the weekend isn’t far away. Then you can take a dip with music on Saturdays. Live beach club sounds start at 16:00 with a barbecue and beach bar.

By the way: You can also buy Grünau blossom honey at the lido!
