Just in time for the beginning of autumn, September brings you a whole lot of culture. The Fotografiska opens and with the first-ever Days of Exile, there will be exciting concerts, readings, exhibitions and discussion events all over the city until October that will bring you closer to the subject, but also to Berliners in exile. The new Grand Show at the Friedrichstadt-Palast will bring colour to grey autumn days. And you can enjoy delicious hand-pulled noodles in two new restaurants in Berlin. Tip 1: See great photos at the newly opened Fotografiska
The Fotografiska is an international centre for visual art opening in Berlin. From 14 September, the works of local and international talents will be presented on six floors. Three exhibitions dealing with the body, gender and origin will kick off the exhibition.
For "Whiteface", Candice Breitz has collected an extensive archive of footage fragments in which prominent voices speak about the topic of "race". In her video, in which she dubs the statements while wearing a pure white shirt, the disembodied voices come to life.
Juliana Huxtable's video installation addresses the limited identity of the corporeal. And for Nude, an international production by Fotografiska, more than 30 artists from 20 different countries deal with the theme of the body and nudity. Children and minors may only visit this exhibition if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Tip 2: Fall in love with the new Grand Show at Friedrichstadt-Palast
With the new Grand Show Falling | In Love, the Friedrichstadt-Palast invites you not to give up your belief in love. The story revolves around You, who is repeatedly rejected in his passion. When the world completely breaks for him, he falls into the garden of love, where it only sparkles with Swarovski crystals. 650 kilograms in total! 280 of the 550 costumes by star designer Jean Paul Gaultier are also adorned with crystals. Let yourself be enchanted by shine, glitter and a magical show.

Tip 3: Eat hand-pulled noodles at the newly opened Jade Palace
All children love noodles. Senlei Ye was no different, with his father not only cooking the noodles in hot water, but making them fresh himself. Fresh hand-pulled noodles are then also the speciality at Jade Palast, a Chinese restaurant that Senlei Ye opened in Charlottenburg in July this year. If you wish, you can even watch your noodles being pulled. The noodle dough is made fresh every day and is vegan. It comes with classic tofu, vegetables or even beef with peanut sauce or homemade chilli oil.

Tip 4: Enjoy even more noodles at the new Wen Cheng III
This new opening shows just how trendy large, wide hand-pulled noodles are right now: with Wen Cheng III on Simon-Dach-Strasse, there are now three branches in Berlin where you can feast on Biang Biang Noodles, the "westernised" name for the thick, long strands of noodles from the Chinese province of Shanxi. Enjoy them with beef, lamb, tofu or aubergine, flavoured with soy and spicy chilli sauce.

Tip 5: See films at the reopened Colosseum cinema
The Colosseum cinema in Prenzlauer Berg has reopened. Almost 100 years after it first opened, the neighbourhood has regained a historic cultural venue. After the closure in 2020 due to a pandemic, many employees took to the streets. In addition to three cinemas, there will also be readings, exhibitions and concerts on the site of the former Wagenhallen in Schönhauser Allee.

Tip 6: Listen and ask questions at the Days of Exile
The Days of Exile are taking place in Berlin for the first time this year. What is it like to leave everything behind and set off into the unknown? Until 9 October, these and other questions will be explored in over 50 events. It will become clear how multi-layered the topic is in its historical and current scope: there will be concerts and readings, theatre and discussions. And the question of the necessity of an exile museum that offers a permanent place for memory culture and visions of the future will be raised.

Tip 7: Pilgrimage through Berlin on the Way of St. James
Since the end of August, there has been a stamp station on the Way of St. James (Jakobsweg) in Berlin. Year after year, hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world make their way to the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain. Those who pass through the capital can now put a stamp in their pilgrim's passport at the Königin-Luise Gedächtniskirche in Schöneberg. The route through Berlin, the Via Imperii, leads from Stettin, past the Brandenburg Gate, on through Brandenburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, Saxony, Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Switzerland and France to Spain. Tip 8: Brunch and browse at the newly opened Krümel's Café
Krümel's Café is intended to be a piece of Berlin. The idea is to create a colourful mix of concept store, café and deli. A wide variety of Berlin brands and creative people will be able to show and sell their work here, from ceramic tableware to table books, art and accessories. Thursday evenings will be reserved for wine tastings, Italian nights, drinks, snacks and music. On Fridays, artists of all genres can present themselves. And you, you can brunch, eat, browse and above all experience a piece of Berlin here.

Tip 9: Shop in style at the newly opened streetwear boutique "Live Fast, Die Young"
Streetwear with style is what the Düsseldorf fashion label "Live Fast, Die Young" (LFDY for short) has been offering since July in a new branch near Kurfürstendamm. Arranged by colour, you'll find shirts, hoodies and trousers on a generous 230 square metres, which you can then have delivered in your size. Of course, this means that only a limited number of fashion fans can be served, so there can sometimes be a queue in front of the chic shop. Once you're inside, you can also treat yourself to in-house coffee.
